A little princess
Hi all. This is my first post and I’m so excited to start my storytelling via The Princess of Persia! I’d like to tell you a bit about myself before the first story. I am Persian (obviously) and I love my homeland Iran! I was born in the 80s in a small city in western part of Iran. At that time Iran-Iraq War was not over yet but honestly I don’t remember anything of it. When I was little I had no idea about the political unrest leading to 1979 revolution in my country. Anyway, in the coming years of my life I had to endure the consequences of that big change.
Where I was born
My city was located on the foot of Zagros Mountain range. I had a very happy childhood running breathlessly in the flower-filled fields by the rivers. West of Iran is called the land of waterfalls. It looks very different from the image that westerners have in mind when hearing about Iran. Iran is a land with different climates. Whereas the central part is a wasteland of arid deserts, the northern and western parts are mountainous and cold. Southern part is humid and hot as well. On the foothills it’s very lush and full of plants and vegetation. I always loved the nature. Maybe because I could be free and run carefree with the wind…
But time flies very fast. Soon enough I had to face the reality of Iranian society. As I stepped into my puberty and teenage years I came to find out more and more . about the ‘forbidden’ things for girls or women. Many of these restrictions made no sense to me. Although fiction was my greatest passion from a very young age but I was aware that considering some careers in Iran is not possible for women. It made me sad but at the same time I started a war against this biased social norms.
This was my first post and just an introduction about my life. I hope you got an idea of it as a whole. Follow The Princess of Persia and read the story of my life:)
